Rev. 18:12

cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every [kind of] citron wood and every article of ivory and every article [made] from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble, [NASB]

γόμον χρυσοῦ καὶ ἀργύρου καὶ λίθου τιμίου καὶ μαργαριτῶν καὶ βυσσίνου καὶ πορφύρας καὶ σιρικοῦ καὶ κοκκίνου καὶ πᾶν ξύλον θύϊνον καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ἐλεφάντινον καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ἐκ ξύλου τιμιωτάτου καὶ χαλκοῦ καὶ σιδήρου καὶ μαρμάρου


Cargoes --

This is simple trade and commerce. But commerce is not the problem. They did not simply ship goods and services, they deceived people into thinking they needed these things. They created a demand, oppressed those who made the goods, cheated those who moved the goods, manipulated the market to increase their profits, and thought this was only "good business". In their greed and corruption, they lusted for more power.
