"For this reason in one day her plagues will come, pestilence and mourning and famine, and she will be burned up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is strong. [NASB]

διὰ τοῦτο ἐν μιᾷ ἡμέρᾳ ἥξουσιν αἱ πληγαὶ αὐτῆς θάνατος καὶ πένθος καὶ λιμός καὶ ἐν πυρὶ κατακαυθήσεται ὅτι ἰσχυρὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὁ κρίνας αὐτήν

For this reason - What reason? --

Why did her plagues come on her suddenly? Because of her arrogance. "I sit as queen" "I will never see mourning." Because of her arrogance and boasts, her plagues, pestilence, mourning, famine, and fire come upon her all at once.

  • SUDDENLY: in one day.
  • HOW: Burned.
  • EFFECT: Famine and disease.
