You can almost feel Jesus' relief that Judas was gone. It was too late to continue trying to change Judas' mind. Events were being set in motion. It was time.
It seems odd to us that Jesus would now refer to being glorified. The traitor left to betray Him. The twelve would be scattered. He was going to die. From our viewpoint, everything was falling apart.
But God who sees the end from the beginning saw that this one act would result in the deliverance of all mankind. From this one act of obedience, billions of people would be saved. It may appear that the devil triumphed, but God would turn it into the greatest victory that had ever been won, or ever will be won. The foundation was being laid for the ultimate victory over sin and all the works of the devil.
It is interesting to see how Jesus glorified the Father and the Father glorified Jesus, his Son. This is the picture of how His church should work. Each member shares in Christ's glory and by our faithfulness, we glorify Him . . . which glorifies the father. And Jesus gives His glory to the church.
Instead of being independent and competing with each other, we support each other and share in the glory of the Messiah, Jesus!
