Never SEE Death vs. Taste Death --

Jesus said that His followers who hold fast to His word would never SEE death. When we "die", we pass directly into the presence of Jesus. We do not see or taste death. When the Lord returns, we will be given new physical bodies. Our old bodies may die, but this flesh;y tent is not who we are. Our souls live on with Jesus and later we receive new bodies in the likeness of His resurrected body.

The Jews repeated His words more strongly than He originally stated. They said that we would never, ever taste death. In this case, they were correct in stating our escape from death in such a strong way:

Heb. 2:9

9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
