If your father is Abraham, then do the works Abraham did --

In keeping with the connection between a person's works and their father, Jesus challenges them. If Abraham is your father, then do the works he did. What works did Abraham do?

  • He believed God would give him an heir even in his old age.
  • He left his land and his relatives to go where God told him to go.
  • He obeyed God and offered his only son Isaac to God. Hebrews tells us that he believed that God could raise Isaac from the dead.
  • He defended Lot and the people of Sodom when they were abducted by the 5 kings
  • He was circumcised and circumcised his household because God told Him to do so.
  • He entered into a covenant with God
