As many commentators have pointed out, "Where was the man." In the next verse, the Pharisees tell Jesus that she was caught in the very act of adultery. If this is true, then the man she was with would have been caught too. So, what became of the man?
It is interesting that the law of Moses states that "if a man" commits adultery. The focus is on the man. Yet here, the man is absent. The law stated that both were to be condemned.
The entire affair appears to have been a setup, in order to find grounds to accuse Jesus. If it was a setup, the entire plot was evil beyond belief, that they would frame and murder a woman just to have a chance to accuse and murder Jesus.
