Messiah means the one who has been annointed by God. Jesus clearly claimed to be the Messiah. In His first public message, in the synagogue in Nazareth, He proclaimed: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has annointed Me." Then He told them that the scripture He just read was fulfilled in His reading. He told them that He was the one bringing good news from God, that He'd been annointed by God to bring this news to them . . . and to others.
There are seven branches on the Candlestick (the Menorah) in the Temple, before the throne of God. Each of the branches represents one of these seven spirits of God.
We are followers of Jesus. As such, the Spirit of the Lord should rest on us. We should have the same seven-fold Spirit of God resting on us. Rom 8:14 "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God."
It is very important that we learn to yield completely on the Holy Spirit. We need to walk with Him and move with Him. If we are yielded to Him, we will bear fruit. Otherwise, we are just play-acting at being a follower of Jesus.
