Isa. 1

Isa. 1:23

Your rulers are rebels, And companions of thieves; Everyone loves a bribe, And chases after rewards. They do not defend the orphan, Nor does the widow′s plea come before them. [NASB]

Everyone loves a bribe, And chases after rewards. --

Even today, we see the corruption that has entered our world. Politicians who make $175K a year become millionaires within a few years of being in office. Large corporations cut corners to allow the company to appear more profitable than it is. Everyone is looking for a way to capitalize on their position. Everyone is corrupt to some extent.

Because they are focused on themselves, they don't care about others, especially those in need. They can't be bothered with others. "Let them eat cake."
