YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES:
If you repent, God will protect and provide for you. If not, you will die.
Dt. 32: 35-4745 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law. 47 For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life.
Dt. 30:15 “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. . . . 19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Many people see God as one who imposes rules on us to keep us in line, and who punishes us when we color outside the lines.
Although this is true, this picture is incomplete. God is love. He loves us with a love that defies our understanding. We do not understand it because we don't love like that. He demonstrated His unwaivering love for us by becoming a man, humbling Himself by becoming a servant, and dying an agonizing, horrific, death of a criminal, falsely accused. And even in His agony, He forgave those who crucified Him. That is how much He loves us.
Everything He does is motivated by this love. Sometimes this love moves Him to reprove and punish us, with the hope that we will turn from evil. His laws are good. They flow out of His love for us. If we keep His laws, we will live . . . but we can't keep them without His life flowing through us.
Everything God does for us is designed to give us life, the life that is in Him.
