They Double Down on Religion --

They offer sacrifices, even more than before, but their hearts are not repentant

When your heart is far from God, then your sacrifices:

  • Are an abomination, rather than good
  • God will not and cannot tolerate them
  • You are only making matters worse
  • God is not like the pagan gods who delight in rivers of blood.

What God is looking for is humble, true, heartfelt, and honest repentance. He doesn't want sacrifices. He doesn't want you to buy your way out of the mess you've made. He wants you to turn your heart to Him and repent: Change your ways . . . and really mean it.
