LOOSE TRANSLATION: --

They have turned their back on God and have turned to the sinful pleasures of this world. Like a dog that returns to its vomit, they have turned back to sin, as if they never knew God.

They Have Turned Away From God --

Sin causes separation between us and God.
We can’t have fellowship with God when we are living in rebellion and sin.

THE PROGRESSION OF SIN:
  • Sin - following your own plans and dreams; following the desires of the flesh and the mind, rather than the Spirit of God. It may start with small, tiny steps. You miss church because you are tired or for some other excuse. You feel guilty and you think that people are judging you. You know it is wrong, but you will not humble yourself and repent.
  • Weighed Down - Sin defiles and pulls you away from God, so that you turn away from Him. By this point, you hardly ever read your Bible, much less spend time studying it. Your prayer life becomes cold and lifeless: It's all about you and what you want: "I need this; I need that. .Church, Bible, prayer become stale, lifeless and work, rather than a joy.
  • Despise the Lord - Living in the lies of the devil will cause you to pick up the thoughts and spirit of the devil, who hates God. You begin to resent God. You know it is wrong, but you don't want people from church to see how far you have fallen. Instead of humbling yourself and seeking God's face, you pull away. You turn from God and embrace evil. Inside, you feel guilty and angry, but you refuse to humble yourself and repent.
